10 Movies That Must Return As A TV Series
7. Ghostbusters
With rumours of a long awaited third instalment of the Ghostbusters franchise doing the rounds on the internet since you first had dial-up installed, it's long since been time that this mythical retreading of old boards was shelved in favour of adapting it for television. The various animated outings have shown that, even with a Scooby Doo style ghost-of-the-week formula, there's more than enough legs in the initial concept to make this a goer.
The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters aired over 200 episodes between them for various children's networks - a huge resource for episode ideas and workable storylines if ever there was one. The timelessness of the concept gives huge scope to reshape the story. Ghosts will always be a thing, and the science behind catching them can't ever age because it's all made up.
The cast doesn't really matter much either, so long as they're a believable enough gang of rogues and oddballs who'll run around after beheaded spectres and other nasties. Throw in some modern elements like Slimer getting Twitter famous and it's got a modern twist. You could even bring back Murray, Ackroyd, or Hudson in the occasional cameo role. Such is the love afforded the very notion of Ghostbusters, it's all good.
