10 Movies That Must Return As A TV Series

Mike Nichols' 1970 adaptation of one of the world's most famous books is undoubtably a faithful retelling - the presence of author Joseph Heller himself on the writing team made sure of that - but it's still painfully short of doing the novel the sort of onscreen justice it deserves. Reboots have been planned every few years as modern writers and directors alike take a look at tackling one the richest stories ever to make it to print, but the sheer daunting quality of the source material is usually enough to put even the most ambitious off for good.

Put simply, although it worked as film in its own right, condensing it down to less than two hours deprives the audience of so much great storytelling that nobody wants the responsibility of holding the red pen. Approaching war, love, death, courage, absurdity and tragedy in a sublimely comic fashion, a well-cast miniseries would be some of the greatest television ever produced. Telling the entire nightmarish story of a bombadier caught between an army that's trying to kill him and his superiors that are virtually doing the same, entire episodes could be devoted to Nately's love affair, Milo's racketeering, or Colonel Cathcart's complete lunacy.

A full and faithful rendition of this story has been badly needed since 1970, and with world affairs virtually lampooning themselves in the last few years 2015 seems the perfect time.
