10 Movies That Needed Reshoots For INSANE Reasons

1. Mike Myers Wanted To Change Shrek's Accent - Shrek

Though animated films by their very nature aren't ever reshot as such, Shrek's voice recording process did nevertheless go through numerous passes before settling on the end result.

First off, the titular ogre was originally voiced by the great Chris Farley, who sadly died before he could finish the part.

This led to Mike Myers being brought in to replace Farley, though Myers insisted upon a full script rewrite to ensure that the DNA of the Farley version of the character was gone.

But after Myers recorded Shrek's lines with a Canadian accent, he asked producer Jeffrey Katzenberg if he could re-record them with a Scottish accent instead, and after hearing Myers try it out, he agreed.

Because this also required the production to rework substantial amounts of Shrek's animation, it ended up adding $4 million onto the budget, though given the film's success and the enduring popularity of the wider IP, it was clearly a smart expense.
