10 Movies That Pissed Off Audiences Right Away

2. Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad is a movie that had so much promise, with its top-notch cast and incredibly effective marketing campaign implying a darker, edgier take on Guardians of the Galaxy-type oddball mayhem.

But then the film started, and audiences realised they were in for a colossal mess.

It's not much of a secret these days that Warner Bros. slaved over the final cut of the film, reportedly having several edits in the mix at once while trying to find a tone that test audiences liked the best.

In the end, they settled not for director David Ayer's grittier cut, but a slapdash version cut together by Trailer Park, the company that edited the film's popular trailers.

And it's telling that the first 20-or-so minutes of Suicide Squad feel like an awkward collision of trailer and music video, cutting between characters with an aggressive, desperate expediency while splicing in expository dialogue from Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) to fill the gaps.

Between this and the excessive pop music needle-drops throughout this opening portion - and the entire movie, in fact - Suicide Squad exhausted audiences with its messy structure right out of the gate, and sadly never recovered. #ReleaseTheAyerCut
