10 Movies That Pissed You Off Straight Away

1. It Begins With A Massive Wall Of Text - Alone In The Dark

And finally, we have a film that nobody should've really had any positive expectations for anyway - the 2005 adaptation of hit horror video game Alone in the Dark, as directed by legendarily awful filmmaker Uwe Boll.

But anyone holding out for a so-bad-it's-good fun time also had their hopes dashed when the film kicked off with perhaps the most tedious opening scene in cinema history: a 90-second wall of text.

It's not uncommon for films to start with title crawls - Star Wars perfected the art, of course - but in the case of Alone in the Dark it's nothing more than an agonisingly dull exposition dump that throws far more information at the viewer than they're realistically able to keep track of.

The irony is that the crawl was reportedly added after test audiences found the film confusing, yet this delivery method is so bland and charmless - complete with listless voiceover narration - that few are likely to take much of it in.

It ensures Boll's film will probably leave you with a minor headache before it's even properly started - and that headache won't leave for another 90 minutes.
