9. DragonHeart
From personal experience I would say that having to fight an immortal whose heart, thus life, is connected to my dragon-friend (and vice-versa) is probably one of the most difficult things I've had to do. And the same goes for Dennis Quaid as Bowen in DragonHeart. A dragon slayer who teams up with, what do you know, a dragon, named Draco, to help stop the evil reign of a king, Einon, that he helped train. And that heart that is connected to the dragon, it's connected to Einon. So kill the dragon and you kill Einon. But who wants to kill their friend? DragonHeart puts Dennis Quaid into a realm of fighting dragons and old mad acquaintances in a time without proper modern healthcare. So I would say if you are in a job, slaying dragons, that doesn't pay hazard pay or provide decent healthcare insurance, and band-aids are not readily available, DQ is putting his mortality on the line every step of the way as Bowen. He could kill Draco to kill Einon, but that would be wrong. So that gives the King Einon an opportunity to kill Bowen, who can't kill Einon. Talk about a crappy Monday. But all is good because when you or I would have punked out and died by the end of the film, DQ doesn't. But how does the entire conflict get resolved? Well, go watch the movie.
