10 Movies That Redeemed Hated Characters In A Single Scene

9. Helen - Bridesmaids

Joker League
Universal Pictures

Much of 2011 smash hit comedy Bridesmaids' runtime is dedicated to Annie's attempts to prove that she is a closer friend to bride-to-be Lillian than the rich, beautiful and rather unlikable Helen.

Whether it was through her competitive best friend speech at the engagement party, or completely upstaging a heartfelt gift from Annie at the bridal shower with an extravagant impromptu trip to Paris (an idea stolen from Annie), Helen rarely gave us a reason to root for her and more often than not left us empathising with the infuriated Maid of Honor.

However, after a meltdown at the aforementioned bridal shower left her seemingly on the outside looking in, Annie is forced to team up with Helen in order to find a missing Lillian. It's here where the two settle their differences as the frequently irritating Helen admits that she thinks people only hang out with her because she's good at organising parties.

This, along with a heartfelt ugly cry, finally gives us a glimpse of the authentic person lying underneath Helen's materialistic exterior, and opens the door for the two to bury the hatchet in the closing stages of the flick.
