10 Movies That Shockingly Destroyed Justice League At The Box Office

Box Office: $698.1 million

Though there was never much doubt that the new adaptation of Stephen King's It was going to be a box office smash, who ever expected it to come within a mouse hair of $700 million?

It is currently the third highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time (behind Deadpool and The Matrix Reloaded), not to mention the highest-grossing horror film in cinema history, proving that when the material is right, even a genre as frequently cynical, lazy and disposable as horror can capture the public's attention at large.

Virtually nobody could've predicted Pennywise devouring the Justice League at the box office, and if someone told you this six months ago, you'd probably have laughed in their face.

The smart money seemed to be on a $400-ish million final haul for It, but instead it played exceptionally well across the broad adult spectrum.
