10 Movies That Should Be Remade Next

7. Johnny Mnemonic

The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen
TriStar Pictures

Was Johnny Mnemonic ahead of its time, or just a bad movie? While the truth may lean much more towards the latter, our society has become so increasingly reliant on technology since it was released in 1995 that it might just be worth updating William Gibson's adaptation of his own novel for the current generation.

Thanks a none-more-90's cast led by Keanu Reeves backed by Ice-T, Henry Rollins, Dolph Lundgren and a cybernetic dolphin named Jones (no, really) and some horribly dated depictions of the then-nascent internet and virtual reality, Robert Longo's debut feature was a critical and commercial misfire that has found something of a niche as a cult curiosity.

The movie does have some good ideas, but can't really get any of them across clearly. However, in today's climate a cyberpunk thriller that incorporates ideas of memory implants, data storage and virtual reality being manipulated by corporations would be seen as increasingly prescient.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
