9. Ghostbusters
This was one of the first films to treat the paranormal as something to be laughed at. The title song certainly helped to sell the concept. What do you think whenever you hear the phrase Who ya gonna call? You immediately think Ghostbusters! It also gave us the indelible image of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man terrorizing New York. Although it spawned a lesser sequel, its legacy as one of the best comedies of the 1980s remains intact. The American Film Institute has already recognized it as part of its 100 Years 100 Laughs list of comedies. Its time for the National Film Registry to follow suit.
