10 Movies That Spent Decades In Development Hell (And Still Lived Up To The Hype)

Finally, we come to Bill & Ted Face the Music, the third entry in the sci-fi comedy series. From the late eighties to the early nineties, it had cultivated a dedicated fanbase, but stayed away from the filmmaking scene for many years.

Following Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey in 1991, lead actors Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter went their separate ways, building highly successful solo careers over the next two decades. While plans were made for a third entry in the series, they were placed on the back-burner. The duo dropped hints that they would want to come back for another flick, but studios didn't have much interest in the project.

Things got moving in 2014 when the fans were asked about the possibility of a sequel, with producer Ed Solomon saying the production crew had a script ready to go. This, combined with Reeves' resurgence in John Wick, slowly grew the interest. The final obstacle was gathering the funding and support they needed to bring Face the Music to the big screen.

Arriving earlier this year, Bill and Ted Face the Music is ultimately a welcome return. It puts Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves back in the spotlight with a worthy follow-up that maintains the same excellence as the first two films. It's filled with charm, humour and the same spirit that made its predecessors massive cult classics.
