Despite being one of the biggest hits of the nineties and being really awesome to boot Schwarzeneggers Total Recall somehow never received a sequel. This wasnt for lack of trying, with director Paul Verhoven finding the perfect idea for a follow-up from original author Philip K. Dick. Dick's story Minority Report featured psychics being used to predict and prevent crimes before they even happen, with the lead character being framed for a pre-crime by shadowy figures. Total Recall had already established psychic mutants on Mars, so with a bit of tweaking the premise was a great fit for a potential sequel. The project hit a major wall when the company financing it went bankrupt, and the rights to the project were sold on. Minority Report went back to being a straight forward adaptation of the short story, with Steven Spielberg eventually making a movie out of it with Tom Cruise. It proved to be one of his darkest blockbusters though it really should have ended about twenty minutes earlier.
