10 Movies That Started Shooting Without A Completed Script

5. Men In Black 3

Like Iron Man, Men In Black 3 went into production on a strict schedule. The sequel to the 1997 and 2002 blockbusters had to go into production by the end of 2010 in order to receive a tax break from New York State, where the film was shot. When filming started in November 2010, director Barry Sonnenfeld had a script that was only about half finished. After five weeks of shooting, the film halted production for the holidays, but because of persisting script problems Men In Black 3 didn't actually start filming again until the end of April 2011. The film€™s effects design team created concepts and built props for the film only to be told that they would have to start over because the script had changed. Naturally, this four-month break added millions to the budget. Because of the lengthy delay, it isn€™t clear how much the studio actually saved with the tax break it rushed to take advantage of. Men In Black 3 still ended up being a major hit. However, with a reported $215 million budget mainly caused by the script problems, it cost almost as much as the first two movies combined.
