10 Movies That Stunned Comic-Con (But Regular Audiences Hated)

3. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Nevertheless, Spielberg took to SDCC 2007 to address attendees about the fourth film, confirming rumours that Karen Allen would be reprising her Marion Ravenwood role, before cutting to a satellite hello from Allen, Ford and co-stars Ray Winstone and Shia LeBeouf. Naturally, the crowd went nuts for it, and even with the question marks surrounding LaBeouf's involvement, it was hard not to be optimistic about Indy's first foray in almost 20 years. Regular Audiences: Sitting in my local student cinema in 2008 proved to be a soul-destroying experience, when it finally hit me, about half-way through Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, that the movie really wasn't very good. There's the CGI prairie dogs, the ridiculous extra-terrestrial plot, LaBeouf swinging around like Tarzan with monkeys, and of course, the trump card that is the nuking of the fridge. As forgiving as I wanted to be about an entry into a movie series that accounted for much of my childhood joy, there's no escaping the fact that this one just flat-out stunk.
