10 Movies That Teased A Sequel Which Never Happened

Before the success of 2014’s Godzilla, which would kick off the MonsterVerse, 1998’s Godzilla would taint the monster’s reputation until the 2014 version came along. 1998 Gozilla produced a more modern-like version of the infamous lizard, however the film wasn’t well received by audiences or critics.

During the final act of the film, we see that there are many eggs beneath New York that would see hundreds of more creatures born to reign havoc among the human race, however the eggs are ultimately destroyed along with the babies that had already hatched.

But one final scene showed that one egg survived as we see a baby ‘zilla burst from the egg before the film cuts to black and the credits roll. Undoubtedly, this ending was setting up for a sequel that would never come to be (there were even talks of a trilogy).

However, moviegoers were disappointed to find out that the sequel was scrapped and we were never able to find out what happened with baby ‘zilla. Godzilla would eventually be rebooted (for the fourth time) in 2014, which is proving to be a success so far.
