After the death of Gwen Stacey, it seemed like the end for Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man but the film’s final scene saw Rhino causing havoc throughout New York and Spider-Man finally returning, swinging to the rescue.

An end-credit scene even teased a Sinister Six storyline, solidifying there would be a third Amazing Spider-Man film.

Both Amazing Spider-Man films gained mixed reviews from both critics and fans, but many were still excited to see how the third film would play out. However, Sony and Disney came to an agreement regarding the rights to the beloved character, bringing Spider-Man over to the MCU.

This move caused the character to be recast with Tom Holland, cutting the story of The Amazing Spider-Man short. There were also rumours that Andrew Garfield was initially fired from the lead role before the recasting after failing to show up to an event because of an illness.

Andrew Garfield would eventually return as the character in Spider-Man: No Way Home, with many fans begging Sony to finally make The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
