10 Movies That Totally Lied To You

8. Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare

Jason Takes Manhattan LIE
New Line Cinemas

The Nightmare On Elm Street franchise had seen five films and two seasons of a horror anthology show before Freddy's Dead was released as the sixth film. When a horror movie franchise promises that they're killing off the main antagonist and ending their cash cow, you can bet it's a lie.

Sure enough, Freddy Krueger popped up a few times after The Final Nightmare. He had a cameo at the end of Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday (it wasn't), was the star of Wes Craven's New Nightmare, had a title role in Freddy vs. Jason, and there was even an attempted reboot of A Nightmare On Elm Street.
