10 Movies That Totally Ripped Off Die Hard

1. Skyscraper (1996)

More than two decades before Dwayne Johnson's Skyscraper cribbed from Die Hard, a peak-of-her-popularity Anna Nicole Smith starred in her own straight-to-video Die Hard knock-off bearing the very same title.

Released in the pre-Pornhub era where "skin flicks" still had legitimate business prospects, Skyscraper replaces Bruce Willis with the 1993 Playboy Playmate of the Year, casting her as helicopter pilot (!) Carrie Wink (!!) who attempts to stop a terrorist from acquiring a mysterious electronic MacGuffin with apparently world-changing potential.

Viewed as a "How does this even exist?" time capsule of mid-nineties horniness, Skyscraper is a fascinating and hilarious curio. Smith naturally spends almost the entirety of the movie with her heaving chest nearly spilling out of her piecemeal clothing, and yes, the movie features numerous sex scenes that definitely weren't in the original Die Hard.

Smith's performance is, naturally, risible. Check out the somehow-not-a-joke trailer for yourself and bask in the insanity that such a project was even financially viable two decades ago. It's terrible as a piece of filmmaking, but as D-movie trash enjoyed with some pals and some beers? It's really quite glorious and honest-to-God entertaining.
