10 Movies That WASTED Villains From Their Source Material

4. Dr. Doom - Fantastic Four

Final Doom
Marvel/Fox

While this entry could easily refer to either the team's 2005 outing or the abysmal 2015 reboot, the reality is that Doctor Doom is a villain that no movie has yet done justice.

Whether you're thinking of Julian McMahon's slightly over-the-top, smarmy take on the Latverian monarch, or Toby Kebbell's brooding bully in the reboot, odds are you consider at least one of them (but let's be honest, it's probably both) to have been a massive waste of the character's potential.

In the comics, Doctor Doom is a worthy adversary for just about any hero; with genius level intellect, magical abilities and armour that grants him super strength and access to a range of weaponry, Doom is easily one of Marvel's most fearsome villains.

It seems that Hollywood would rather shy away from Doctor Doom's occasional campy antics and instead attempt to portray him as a dark, mysterious loner, but the end result is seemingly always the same: a cheap imitation of the character that has been causing havoc in the Marvel Universe since his creation.
