3. Six Journals Were Made For The Opening Title Sequence - Se7en

David Fincher's Se7en boasts one of the most brilliantly creepy opening title sequences in cinema history, as we see serial killer John Doe (Kevin Spacey) cutting his fingertips, making photographs, and assembling his deranged notebooks full of unhinged scrawlings and images.

Fincher drafted in legendary title designer Kyle Cooper, a man literally nicknamed the "Da Vinci of main titles," for the job, a moniker he evidently earned through his wonderfully excessive commitment to the task at hand.

Cooper had designers Clive Piercy and John Sabel spend tens of thousands of dollars creating six complete journals for the two-minute title sequence, despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of the text and imagery in the journals was never actually shown on screen, let alone filmed.

Hell, the journals even have their own featurette.

It may seem totally over-the-top, yet it's tough to argue too much with Cooper's methodology given that Se7en's title sequence is quite rightly held up as one of the greatest of all time.
