The Devil Wears Prada is hardly the Great Gatsby but it does its job when it comes to accessible easy reading and storytelling. It's light, funny and entertaining when it counts, plus it is perfect for getting a tan on the beach.

So when news broke that the book would be turned into a movie, we all expected the same kind of thing - an easy-breezy Anne Hathway movie with an emotional soundtrack and a somewhat happy ending. In a sense, that's exactly what we got, but in addition, we got so much more.

That much more came in the form of Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt. Streep gave one of the best performances of her life (and yes that includes Sophie's Choice) and Blunt stole pretty much every scene from the supposed star of the show, Anne Hathaway.
