10 Movies That Were Blatant Apologies
7. Rocky Balboa
As the cinema legend himself once put it, "ain't nothin' over 'til it's over."
And on the back of the hugely underwhelming last hurrah for The Italian Stallion that was Rocky V, it was clear Balboa supporters the world over were hoping that would most definitely be the case with the immortal big-screen boxer.
With Sylvester Stallone himself also expressing deep regret for the all-round "mistake" that was his hopeless apparent final outing as the ultimate underdog, even going as far as to admit he was "very negligent" when penning Rocky's initial last dance, Sly ultimately felt he was "obligated to try and end the series the way it should have ended."
But MGM would take some convincing before committing to a sixth Rocky tale in the wake of such a dud of a previous outing. After nearly a decade, though, Stallone was finally given the green light to give his beloved fighter the proper in-ring send-off Balboa fans had been wanting to see since that 1990's street-fighting disaster.
All in all, the return to form that was 2007's Rocky Balboa more than made up for the misstep that was V in the end, and helped set the stage for a triumphant next chapter in the series in the form of the equally epic Creed showings.
