10 Movies That Were Filmed But Never Finished
2. The Aryan Papers
Although A.I Artificial Intelligence and Napoleon are considered to be two of the most prevalent projects to be unfinished by Stanley Kubrick, it is The Aryan Papers that actually came closest to taking off. Stanley Kubrick had long-desired to make a movie about the Second World War and, in 1999, he latched onto Louis Begleys Wartime Lies.
Begley's book follows a Jewish boy and his aunt who survived Europes Nazi occupation through acquiring Aryan identity papers that showed them to be Polish Catholics. The project came as close as securing funding through Warner Bros. and casting the principal characters.
However, when it occurred to the studios that The Aryan Papers would rub too close to the release of Spielberg's wartime drama Schindlers List, the project was discarded and instead, Kubrick shuffled on to what was to be his last ever film, Eyes Wide Shut.
