10 Movies That Were Filmed But Never Finished
7. Something's Got To Give
Just three years before he won an Academy Award for Best Director on My Fair Lady, George Cukor helmed the screwball comedy Somethings Got To Give, a remake of 1940s My Favourite Wife produced by Twentieth Century Fox. Marilyn Monroes recurrent illnesses, such as bronchitis and fever, led to the production being well behind schedule and well over budget.
Monroe was eventually dismissed and several months later the film was re-worked as Move Over, Darling with Doris Day in place of Monroe. The glamour puss died in August 1962, just two weeks after she was fired form the project. Only thirty-seven minutes of Monroe's original film still exists and co-stars Dean Martin and Cyd Charisse.
