10 Movies That Were Filmed In Total Secrecy

In July 2017, it was announced that Steven Soderbergh had made a film in secret the month prior which turned out to be Unsane, his experimental horror film starring Claire Foy, Joshua Leonard, and Juno Temple.

Unsane's big conceit was that Soderbergh opted to eschew typical, cumbersome Hollywood production by shooting the film entirely on an iPhone 7 Plus with an incredibly small crew, allowing him to complete the film for just $1.2 million - much of which covered post-production costs - in only 10 days.

Despite its unconventional visual format, Unsane received a wide theatrical release and grossed almost $15 million worldwide, in addition to being warmly embraced by critics.

And so, Unsane was proof perfect that the very best directors can produce impressive results no matter what equipment they're working on.
