This past summer, reports began to emerge that Sacha Baron Cohen had been spotted in costume as his iconic creation Borat, showing up in disguise at a right-wing rally and being caught filming a scene in a car as recently as August.

By early September, rumour spread that not only had Cohen shot a Borat sequel with an anonymous director - presumably for fear of reprisals - but that the film had been cut together and screened for select studio executives.

A short time later, Amazon Studios confirmed that Borat 2 - or its full title, Borat: Gift of Pornographic Monkey to Vice Premiere Mikhael Pence to Make Benefit Recently Diminished Nation of Kazakhstan - would be released on Amazon Prime on October 23rd.

Additional reports stated that Cohen had to wear a bulletproof vest during two especially dicey days of filming, ensuring that the sequel immediately became one of the year's most anticipated, must-see movies.

That Cohen managed to film so much of it without being rumbled, especially with the Borat persona being so visible worldwide, is extremely impressive.
