10 Movies That Were So Bad You Couldn't Even Get Angry
7. Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker isn't an objectively bad movie, but there isn't a shred of originality about the concluding chapter to the Skywalker Saga, which is no doubt due to the studio-mandated directives to try and retcon as much as possible from The Last Jedi after Rian Johnson crafted the most divisive entry in the history of the long-running franchise.
There's enough backstory, foreshadowing and exposition going on to fill two movies, but the plot still boils down to finding out about an item that advances the story, tracking down said item, encountering some bad guys, either getting captured or running away, and this gets repeated over and over for over two hours.
For a while Kylo Ren had the potential to be one of the most well-developed villains we'd seen in a long time, but after killing his father, trying to kill his mother, killing his mentor and essentially staging a coup on the First Order, one Harrison Ford flashback later and he suddenly decides to become a good guy for real this time. And then he dies.
There's no denying that The Rise of Skywalker is a well made blockbuster, but it just fails to hit any of the notes that were expected from one of the most highly-anticipated movies of all time.
