10 Movies That Were Too Damn Long

7. Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets (2002)

Cloud Atlas
Warner Bros.

Harry Potter is one of the most beloved movie series of modern times, an epic tale of good versus evil spanning eight inconsistent but altogether massively enjoyable family blockbusters.

Unfortunately, every franchise has a weak spot, and whilst Chamber of Secrets doesn't fully fall in the realm of being a "bad" movie, it could have done with some serious cutting down.

At 161 minutes (or 174 if you dare sit through the extended version), the franchise's second entry is also its longest, and none of it is really justified. Yes, it's incredibly faithful to the book, but there are plenty of moments within the novel that could have been cut out whilst still leaving a solid family adventure to be enjoyed.

Though it introduced the lovable Dobby and the set pieces are excellent, expanding on the world-building of the franchise brilliantly, at nearly three hours, it really feels a slog in its over-stretched middle act.
