10 Movies That Were Too Damn Long
5. Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End (2007)
The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise peaked with its first installment, where it introduced audiences to an original and fun story about pirates and ghosts, and featured the emergence of Johnny Depp's iconic Captain Jack Sparrow.
Whilst the second film, Dead Man's Chest (2006), was far too long at 150 minutes, the ill-advised and sloppy third outing, At World's End, took things to a whole new level, clocking in at an insane 170 minutes. And, really, little of it is good, which makes the runtime even more trying.
With career-crippling performances from the likes of Orlando Bloom, Kiera Knightley and Chow Yun-fat, and a plot that jumps incoherently between different settings and characters, At World's End has very little going for it outside of Depp's typically engaging performance and some astounding set pieces.
It's a shame the original trilogy ended this way, because if the script had been shorter and the plot more concise, there's definitely a great film lurking within the poor final product.
