10 Movies That Won't Be Outshined By Their Inevitable Reboots

9. Cliffhanger

cliffhanger stallone You may know Neal H. Moritz as the producer who worked on The Bounty Hunter and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. You may not know him at all but just know this, his name is already attached to a Cliffhanger reboot. With films like that under his belt there's no way this can go wrong! Cliffhanger is a film that's pretty short on substance but manages to work pretty well under the circumstances. Sylvester Stallone gives one of his best performances and John Lithgow makes an excellent villain. The premise is pretty simple good guy tries to prevent bad guy from killing people then getting off with a bunch of money and there's a bunch of mountain climbing involved. The movie worked because the setting of an action movie on a mountain was a nice twist for the genre and it ended up being a hit when it was released. Several films have tried to duplicate the formula since but have failed. Action movies on mountains don't always work out so well and a reboot of this film probably wouldn't work so well either. Most of the audience that enjoyed this film back in the day probably wouldn't be interested in seeing a reboot and most of the people who have no idea it's a reboot probably wouldn't be interested in the film either. Most likely Hollywood will try to sell this one with Taylor Lautner as the star which always equals success.
