9. Pacific Rim
Considering Guillermo del Toros Kaiju-em-up is as close to a live action Saturday morning cartoon weve seen in years, its a safe bet that Pacific Rim would make an amazing cartoon. Not only do you have Jaeger-on-monster action, but the massive world that del Toro has created is just itching to be explored further as a series. The general synopsis of Pacific Rim is simplicity itself: gargantuan monsters called Kaiju are constantly erupting from a dimensional fissure in the sea bed. Because humans dont take kindly to any invasion, least of all lumbering fish beasts, we built colossal piloted suits called Jaegers to beat ten bells out of our new enemies. If you dont think thats awesome then go and take a good hard look at yourself in the mirror. Pacific Rim: The Animated Series would be set before the events of the film, when Jaeger pilots were treated as rock stars. The series star Stacker Pentecost and his team of pilots, along with Mako who, like in the movie, desperately wants to be at the helm of a mech, but still gets to show off her amazing martial arts prowess whenever the story calls for a can of whoop-ass being opened. You will also have the nerdy scientist, the cocky jock and the young nervous up-start that make up the generic cast of any cartoon, but this time theyre firing nukes out of their chests and saying things like Not today, fishface. Dont lie - you would totally eat this up all day long.
