4. Even Star Wars: The Clone Wars Doesnt Take Itself Seriously
Here's a free tip to prospective directors taking on a blockbuster franchise. Even if youre taking on a series that many love and you deep down know your entry isn't a proper entry, dont admit it. Dave Filoni didn't heed this essential information when bringing his Clone Wars cartoon to the big screen; already lumbered with the loss of the 20th Century Fox logo, there was a decidedly un-Star Wars opening (it seems they didn't have the rights to the classic theme). A premiere of the TV series bumped up to feature film status to squeeze a bit more money out of audiences, at no point in the marketing of the film did it feel like anyone was taking this seriously. The initial release was mooted and since its become a DVD curio; no "Complete Saga" DVD collection seems willing to acknowledge its existence. Obviously given the timeline, this couldn't be given an episode number, but seeing as how were soon going to be getting Star Wars films not tied directly into the main series, a profitable side movie is clearly possible. Unlike all the other films on this list, not even The Clone Wars thought it was part of the franchise.
