2. Valkyrie Is An Unapologetic Slave Trader - Thor: Ragnarok

Thor: Ragnarok is a ludicrously entertaining MCU joint which, among other things, first introduced audiences to the character of Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), a former warrior who has since become The Grandmaster's (Jeff Goldblum) slave trader on Sakaar.

This basically amounts to Valkyrie capturing innocent people and serving them up for The Grandmaster's gladiatorial arena, where they'll presumably be torn asunder by The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).

The particulars of Valkyrie's arrival on Sakaar are kept vague, and the film also makes an effort to quickly gloss over her grim dayjob in favour of her burgeoning friendship with Thor (Chris Hemsworth).

The resulting shenanigans are certainly entertaining enough to make one forget - for a time, anyway - but even a cursory examination of Valkyrie's character suggests she's likely caused hundreds if not thousands of deaths, and doesn't seem particularly repentant about it.

Sure, she's a PTSD-riddled alcoholic after Hela (Cate Blanchett) wiped out the rest of the Valkyries, but even so, is that any excuse for being a trash human being? And yet, Taika Waititi is a talented enough filmmaker to push it to the periphery as much as possible.
