10 Movies That Are Way Scarier Than You Think

3. The Day After Tomorrow (2004)

Day After Tomorrow Horror movies are all about one phrase: "OH GOD, OH GOD, WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE." Nothing quite brings that home quite so much as natural disaster movies. We've got Twister, The Perfect Storm, even Sharknado to a certain degree. So what's so special about about The Day After Tomorrow? This will be my shortest entry, because it has to be seen to be believed. I've known since Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth that people would try to politicise global warming. This movie manages to show that the world is going to freeze over and people will die in droves... and it's all the Republicans' fault.I straddle the line between liberal conservative and conservative liberal and this is the movie that reminded me of why I do so. If you can't find a better villain than the GOP, please stop trying to write.

That's Kaki pronounced like the pants, thank you very much, my family nickname and writing name. I am a Red Sox-loving, Doctor Who-quoting, Shaara-reading walking string quartet of a Mormon writer from Boston. I currently work 40 hours at a stressful desk job with a salary that lets me pick up and travel to places like Ireland or Philadelphia. I have no husband or kids, but I have five nephews to keep me entertained. When not writing, working or eating too much Indian food, I'm always looking for something new to learn, whether it's French or family history.
