4. Schindlers List
I feel unworthy of the opportunity to summarize this film. Schindlers List is a fictitious glimpse at a real hero in our worlds history. Oskar Schindler was a greedy businessman who turned angel and took mercy upon over a thousand Jews, hiding them in his factory before they could be sent to the gas chambers in Auschwitz. Outside of the plot regarding Schindler, we are exposed to violent rehashings of the conditions in Germany during the Nazi reign. We cry at this movie out of horror and disgust. No one has ever been able to face the inhumane treatment of Jews, homosexuals, gypsies and others obliterated by Nazis and this movie is everything that no one wants to see. We can feel our hearts breaking with every scene and there are moments when we dont even realize we have our mouths open and our eyes are glazed by fear. We knew this would make us cry before we saw it, but we feel compelled to see films that represent the terror of Nazi Germany so that we can learn from them, ensure that the chaos and blatant genocide will never happen again.
