10 Movies We Want In Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4

After Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 opened, writer-director James Gunn mentioned that he'd be expanding Marvel's cosmic universe, exploring planets and galaxies separate from the traditionally more Earth-based escapades of the Avengers.

A few months later, Gunn hosted a Facebook live Q&A, during which he said that Nova - aka Richard Rider - is a character that might be included in a future MCU movie.

It seems like a Nova movie could one day become a reality.

Richard Rider is an American high-school student turned superhero. After Rhomann Dey - the last-surviving member of planet Xandar's Nova Corps - crash-lands on Earth, he selects Richard to replace him. The teenager inherits Dey's uniform and is granted various powers, and adopts the name Nova.

It's a great story, and a lot of the groundwork has already been established. The Nova Corps were introduced in Guardians Of The Galaxy, as was Rhomann Dey - played by John C. Reilly.

When you combine these existing pieces with Gunn's awareness of the character and Marvel's wish to further explore their cosmic universe, Nova would be a logical step for Phase Four to take.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
