10 Movies We're Surprised Directors Haven't Made Yet

4. The Girl Who Played With Fire - David Fincher

Dragon TattooThe Movie: The sequel to David Fincher's American adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, as Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) tries to get to Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara) before the authorities can pin the murder of a journalist on her. Why It Hasn't Been Made: Sony initially said that The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest may be filmed back to back, though the modest box office cume of the film somewhat stalled those plans. Production has been delayed constantly, and though David Fincher is keen to return, he's also tackling Gone Girl in the coming months, which won't leave him free to direct another Lisbeth Salander movie until around 2015. It seems that the Dragon Tattoo fad has begun to wane, and given that there's already a Swedish version of this sequel, are the studio really that bothered about remaking it for what will likely be a middling level of profit at best? Is it worth all that effort?
