10 Movies Where Characters Get Trapped In Ridiculous Places

The trapped-in-an-elevator conceit is a familiar one, taking in everything from Only Fools and Horses to The Vault of Horror (and its Steve Coogan riff, Doctor Terrible's House of Horrible). Few have done with such misplaced verve as Devil, though.

This M. Night Shyamalan-scripted movie predates his career resurgence, made by another director while Night was still in the filmmakers' doghouse. Like his more recent movies, Devil is a relatively simple, stripped-back concept made special with fun ideas and a generous heap of ambition.

Is it as good as The Visit or Split? Of course not. It is tremendous, silly fun though, and - never mind the elevator - you won't look at a slice of dropped toast in quite the same way again.
