10 Movies With Post-Credits Scenes That Change Everything

8. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes

In the Planet of the Apes series, it had always been kind of a mystery how humanity was wiped out and taken over by apes. The 2011 prequel, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, shows the beginning of the ape uprising as led by Ceasar, but by the end of the movie, humanity is still alive. The film doesn't actually reveal how the human race will die. Except it totally does. After a few names have popped up in the credits, enough time that some people might have left the theatre, we see Hunsiker, the next door neighbour from earlier in the film who really hates Caesar. You might remember that Franklin the chimp handler was infected by the new drug and becomes sick, and at one point he sneezes all over Hunsiker. Well, as it turns out, Hunsiker€™s a pilot, and in this post-credits sequence, we see him flying all over the world spreading the virus and causing the death of humanity. Very casually in the credits, basically everyone on the planet dies. So as it turns out, the apes becoming intelligent and humanity being wiped out are both the result of the same drug. Sure, that was hinted at a bit within the film itself, but this post-credits scene confirms it and actually lets us see it happen. And it€™s something that someone who ran out of the theatre to pee would have totally missed.
