10 Movies With Random Subplots For Absolutely No Reason

2. Thor & Jane Foster Romance - Thor

Thor The Marvel movies tend to do romance fairly well, though Thor might be the exception that proves the rule. With virtually no effort whatsoever, a romance is established between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). Well, I say "established"; what really happens is that the movie has other characters talking about how hot the Asgardian is, and then near the end of the movie, Foster plants a lip-lock on the guy, totally out of nowhere. While it's refreshing in a sense that Foster just dives straight into this kiss based on pure physical attraction, we can't mistake that for an attempt to undercut the usual forced romances; this is one that is in its own way forced, shoved in there when neither the plot nor the characters particularly facilitated it.
