10 Movies With Title Characters Who Aren't The Lead
2. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
The Coen Brothers' latest film tells six separate stories. The first is the Ballad of Buster Scruggs, about the titular singing cowboy who thinks himself unbeatable until he's shot dead. The ghost of Buster Scruggs sings a beautiful duet, "When a Cowboy Trades his Spurs for Wings," along with his slayer, ending his story.
However, neither Buster nor his Ballad affects any of the remaining five stories, each focusing on a different aspect of the wild wild west. Buster's Ballad really only lasts about fifteen minutes, and he's only the main character for ten of those minutes, until his death.
Although his story is as good as any of the other five to name the film after, Buster Scruggs is only even relevant for a small percentage of The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.
