10 Movies You Can't Remember Who The Villain Really Was

5. Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle

The self-aware nature of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle ensures that much of the film is focused on making fun of both video games and adventure movie tropes, so the Big Bad being nothing more than a thin sketch is clearly not an accident.

While you can certainly argue that Jumanji itself is the heroes' primary force of opposition, villainy is most obviously embodied by scheming archaeologist Professor Russell Van Pelt (Bobby Cannavale).

Pelt is in the film for no more than a few minutes, effectively serving as perfunctory added value in a movie - and a game - which already has plenty to throw at the beleaguered heroes.

The role was a sure waste of Cannavale's talents, but at least he (hopefully) got a handsome payday out of it.
