10 Movies You Didn't Know Had Secret Post-Credits Sequences

2. Ghost World (2001)

The undeniable highlight of Terry Zwigoff's comic book adaptation Ghost World is the wonderful Steve Buscemi, whose nebbish, quiet and pained character gives audiences the chance to feel empathetic in a world otherwise filled with dead-pan, snarky and unappealingly blunt characters. How has this man never been nominated for an Academy Award?

Ghost World's post-credits surprise acts as a kind of "What if?" by way of an alternative turn of events. In the actual movie - during a scene in which Buscemi's character Seymour decides to go insane - Seymour's attempts to pull down a shelf are squandered by a nun-chuck wielding Brad Renfro, who rushes to attack him and ends up putting the poor, weedy guy in hospital.

But the post-credits scene spins the situation in Seymour's favour. Instead, he manages to fight off Renfro with a nifty punch to the face. Then he leaves the store, screaming the F-word, and looking relatively bad-ass. The fact that this doesn't happen in the movie is none too surprising: plainly put, it's too unbelievable to imagine Seymour winning a fight.
