And you'd probably be forgiven for having never heard of it, given that it's about as interesting as watching an empty packet of crisps blowing about in the wind for 124 minutes. Yes, it's that long, and yes, it's not just the result of putting the word "super" in front of "girl" and trying to have a movie bonanza: this was actually written to be a sequel to the real Superman movie franchise (the one you actually like). Conceived as a side vehicle to the otherwise great Superman movies, Supergirl starred Helen Slater as the eponymous hero, and Faye Dunaway as "the bad guy," and was a massive box office flop, raking in a lousy $14 million from a $35 million budget. Nowadays it's less considered a sequel than a raging mis-fire of imagination failure, so you can just go back to pretending this was something unrelated to the Superman we all know and love.
