10 Movies You Had No Idea They Remade
1. Possession
Andrzej Żuławski's Possession is one of the most unforgettable horror films ever made - a haunting fever dream of a psychological horror enlivened by Isabelle Adjani's mesmerising, Oscar-worthy performance.
To many, the idea of remaking it is simply unconscionable.
And yet, Robert Pattinson was recently announced to be starring in a remake written and directed by Parker Finn (Smile), but Hollywood was actually beaten to the punch already, as an Indonesian remake, Possession: Kerasukan, came out back in May to scarcely little fanfare.
Despite the remake's slick production values evident from its trailer, early social media reviews have been rather lukewarm, suggesting it rather unsurprisingly falls short of the high mark set by the 1981 original, failing to recapture its uniquely ominous tone and making unnecessary, inferior story deviations.
Needless to say, once the Pattinson-starring remake releases a few years from now, this Indonesian version will almost certainly be banished into the cultural ether, destined to be forgotten.
