10 Movies You Have To Watch TWICE To Understand

When it comes to movies featuring time loops, Groundhog Day always springs to mind. Triangle is a little more obscure in that regard, but it’s a heck of a head-scratcher too.

For the uninitiated, Triangle stars Melissa George as a single parent named Jess. On a boat trip with some friends, they run afoul of a terrible storm, forcing them to take refuge on a vast liner, whereupon several shades of you-know-what hits the fan with a resounding splatter.

As was the case with The Cabin in the Woods, it’s a solid set-up for a ‘something’s stalking them and picking them off one by one’ kind of scenario, but things are a little more complex than that. We gradually untangle the déjà vu-laden mystery: Jess, spotting herself from an ‘earlier’ scenario, discovers that she’s trapped in a time loop of killings, which resets as the previous group is wiped out. It’s a peculiar scenario (as the scene in which Jess sees a pile of her own corpses makes clear), and the ending makes clear that this loop is going to go on. Again, you really need to re-watch the whole thing having seen that.
