5. The Lethal Weapon "Cameo" - Die Hard 2
Action movie franchises love to tip their hats to each other, but you probably never noticed this fleeting, amusing Easter egg in the second Die Hard film, which pays sly tribute to another quintessential 1980s action franchise, Lethal Weapon.
In one of Die Hard 2's opening scenes, an elderly woman is perversely showing off her taser to Holly (Bonnie Bedelia) on the plane, but as she reaches in her purse to grab it, we can see for a few fractions of a second that she's reading a magazine with a full-page ad for the recently released Lethal Weapon 2.
This is telling because both Die Hard and Lethal Weapon were produced by Joel Silver, and respective franchise stars Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson were also both almost cast in the other actor's film.
For the many fans who wanted to believe that Die Hard and Lethal Weapon exist within a shared universe, this snappy shot seems to confirm that sadly isn't the case.
