10 Movies You Only Like Because Everybody Else Does

5. Slumdog Millionaire (2008)

When was the last time you thought about Slumdog Millionaire? When was the last time you thought, hey, I really need to go back and watch Slumdog Millionaire? Be honest: have you ever thought about Slumdog Millionaire even once since you first went to go see it?

No, you haven't. Nobody has. Even though it won Best Picture back in 2009, nobody has ever bothered to revisit Slumdog Millionaire. 'Cause there's just no reason to do that.

Truth is, then, Slumdog is one of those "feel good" films that collective mankind bought into all at once, deciding that it was brilliant and colourful and fun and, hey, it's set in India, too, so it must be great! The reason nobody has thought about it for six years, though, stems from the fact that it's also just about the most arbitrary, bland and pandering motion of all-time. The main idea doesn't ring true, whilst poverty is made to look like "a right laugh."

And we all apparently love it because why wouldn't you love it? Well, there are many reasons not to: it's easier to just say that you do, apparently. Stop liking this: you don't.
