10 Movies You Should Watch (Even Though They Suck)

8. The Gray Man

The Grey Man
Netflix

After the success of Captain America: Winter Soldier, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, it looked like the Russo brothers could do no wrong.

But after watching The Gray Man, you'll think to yourself, "Oh, wait. They can." This spy thriller may have broken all sorts of viewing records on Netflix, but that doesn't change the fact it'll be forgotten by the masses in two years.

Basically, the film is dumb. Now, there's nothing wrong with dumb. But the problem is the movie plays its dumbness so straight. Ryan Gosling plays the lead so seriously, it's like he's not aware of how ridiculous everything in the movie is.

Billy Bob Thornton has a thankless role that could've been played by anyone (Also, the de-aging effects on his face in the prologue is distractingly creepy.) The action is inventive and suspenseful, but Gosling's character is encased in so much plot armour, you never believe he's in danger.

But just as viewers are about to doze off, Chris Evans' villainous Lloyd Hansen enters the picture. As Evans has proven in duds like Not Another Teen Movie or Fantastic Four, nothing will stop the Captain America star giving 110%. Not a lame script. Not bad jokes. Nothing. Evans oozes charisma in every shot, fights like an animal in every action scene, and makes the dumbest lines work. Also, he's absolutely hilarious.

For Evans alone, The Gray Man is a must-see.
