10 Movies You Should Watch (Even Though They Suck)
3. Click
He may be a comedian by trade but it's no secret Adam Sandler dabbles in drama. Punch Drunk Love, Reign Over Me, and Hustle prove Sandler can dish out a serious performance when he wants.
Bizarrely, one of his most dramatic turns is in Click - a comedy revolving around a remote control that allows Sandler's character, Michael, to fast-forward and rewind real life.
The first 75% of this film has all the derivative jokes you'd expect from a Sandler vehicle. We got gags about dog poo, man-boobs, and erections, all of which are, (you guessed it), not funny.
But the third act takes a surprisingly dark turn. Using the remote control, Michael fast-forwards to the future when he's become a successful businessman. But since he missed all the defining family moments, Michael has become a cold and callous man. When you watch Michael belittle his father, (played brilliantly by Henry Winkler) just before he passes away, you can't help tearing up.
When Michael learns the errors of his ways just before he dies on the street, you forget you're watching a comedy.
If you're thinking of switching Click off because of the dumb jokes, stick with it. It's worth it in the end.
